Meet the Principals of the International School of The Hague at the “Feel at Home” event

Families relocating to The Hague are invited to connect with the ISH Principals and team, explore the school’s philosophy, and discover how the school nurtures curious, compassionate and globally minded learners.

For families moving to The Hague, choosing the right school for their children is one of the most important decisions they will make. The International School of The Hague (ISH) is a Dutch and international co-educational day school for children aged 4–18, offering an inquiry-based curriculum to around 2,000 students from more than 100 nationalities. Located in the dunes of Kijkduin, ISH is an IB World School that combines Dutch educational values with a global perspective, dedicated to developing compassionate, curious, and connected global citizens.

At ISH, education takes a holistic approach, recognising that every student brings a unique mix of experiences, knowledge and values. The school nurtures learners who are academically capable, socially aware, emotionally resilient and physically well. Through the ISH Community Profile, students develop international mindedness and intercultural understanding, becoming active and caring members of local, national and global communities.

Teachers at ISH are committed to inclusive, empowering classrooms that inspire personal excellence. Students take responsibility for their learning while working collaboratively to make sense of the world. The curriculum is broad, balanced, challenging, conceptual and connected, ensuring learners are both supported and challenged as they grow into confident, reflective and socially aware individuals.

ISH is excited to announce that it will be participating in the “Feel at Home” event on Monday, 30 March 2026, organised by The Hague International Centre. This is a unique opportunity for parents to meet the school’s Principals – Rubin Borges (Secondary) and Jan Humpleby (Primary) – in person, ask questions about ISH’s educational approach, and see how the school fosters lifelong learners in a welcoming Dutch and international community. The event also provides practical guidance on housing, childcare, healthcare and other aspects of relocation, while giving families a chance to connect with ISH firsthand. Held in the vibrant setting of Madurodam, the evening blends useful information with a welcoming atmosphere.

Parents can speak directly with Rubin Borges and Jan Humpleby about the school’s philosophy, academic programme and support systems, gaining insight into how ISH balances academic excellence with social and emotional development in an international environment.
