NAARDEN the Art fair celebrates its jubilee edition

For 25 editions, the Naarden the Art fair has been a household name, just like its base: the ancient, fortified town of Naarden. The fair for old, modern and contemporary art celebrates its anniversary in the Grote Kerk in Naarden from 26 to 29 January, 2023. More than 65 renowned galleries, antique dealers and art dealers will be presenting their finest works in this jubilee edition

Like a fortress
The very first fair was started by Johan and Edith Rissik from InterEvent in January 1998 under the name Art & Antiques Weekend Naarden. Praised for its intimate setting and hospitable reception, ‘Naarden’ grew, over two decades, into one of the most important art fairs in the Netherlands: NAARDEN the Art fair. Since its foundation, the Grote Kerk Naarden, a monumental church from the 15th century, has been a beautiful backdrop for the event, which annually attracts thousands of art lovers from all over the Netherlands.

Eye-catchers
In 2023, the galleries, antique dealers and art dealers will once again present an eye-catching collection of paintings, sculptures, art objects, furniture, jewelry and photography. Before the opening of the fair, the works on offer are inspected by independent appraisers to guarantee their quality and authenticity. A rare French travel clock with day, date and moon indication can be seen at Gijsbers A. Antique. It is a large model from around 1880, equipped with a ‘grande sonnerie’ striking mechanism. Kunsthandel Pygmalion features a flower still life in oil by Jeanne Bieruma Oosting (1898-1994). Her noble family preferred to see her marry and have children, but Oosting trained as an artist, went to Paris on her own and an eventful career followed. Okker Art Gallery is bringing photographic work by former dockworker Didier Engels, including ‘It’s my pleasure’. His fascination for the maritime world always brings Engels back to the port of Antwerp. Albert Heijdens finds his inspiration in the French Pyrenees, where he lives and works for a large part of the year. He likes to experiment with materials; his urge to escape from the flat surface is expressed in relief-like representations. His work ‘Melodie’, 2022, is on display with Galerie Art Expositions. Lin Jin Chun is a member of the Fujian Artists Association, a leading group of artists in Shanghai. His landscape will star with Galerie Kunstbroeders. The creations of jewelry designer Mary van der Sluis are characterized by a non-conformist style and colorful gemstones. In her collection, elegant Alliance rings dazzle in 18 carat gold with brown, yellow and greenish diamonds all around.
