Tesla is proud to be on top of the list of the most popular employers for technical students in the Netherlands. The company, with European headquarters in Amsterdam and an assembly plant in Tilburg, is the most preferred employer among technology students. Business students also prefer the manufacturer of electric cars over traditional employers like Unilever, Schiphol and Shell. Students are attracted by the green image and the strong innovation spirit of Tesla founder Elon Musk.
This repels the Google Company off of the fi rst place. Pragmatic considerations also play a role: Tesla has its European headquarters in Amsterdam, assembles its electric cars in Tilburg, and is considering further expansion within Europe. The recruitment machine is running at full speed and Tesla regularly receives hundreds of CVs per vacancy, says the spokesman of Tesla, Mr. Kim Liebregts. Especially the younger target group sees Musk as an inspirer. This information comes from the Swedish consultancy Universum that puts together the top 130 popular companies, which advises employers globally on how to profi le in order to bind the best talents, based on a survey of nearly 23 thousand Dutch students.
The employers who are in decline are mainly in grown-up sectors such as consumer goods, according to the research. The less green and innovative your image, the more diffi cult to fi nd young talents. It seems: British American Tobacco dropped fi fteen places, Procter & Gamble and Beer Brewer Inbev nine places, Philip Morris eight places. Jacobs Douwe Egberts four places and FrieslandCampina fi ve places. Unilever, who has embraced sustainability, dropped one place.
Striking on the list is the strong decline in popularity of traditional companies such as Wehkamp, Ahold, Bol. com and TomTom. The banks also declined, like the Rabobank, ING, ABN Amro, and the British Barclays. Striking risers are CoolBlue, Adidas and the National Government.
