The festive opening night of the French fi lm festival Tapis Rouge will take place on Wednesday 30 October in Pathé Tuschinksi. The fi rst edition of Tapis Rouge – from 30 October to 3 November – opens with the premiere of Hors Normes (The Specials) in the presence of fi lmmakers Olivier Nakache and Éric Toledano. The new ambassador of France to the Netherlands, his Excellency Mr. Luis Vassy will attend the opening night. The rest of the Tapis Rouge program is screened in Bioscoop Het Ketelhuis. Festival ambassador Philip Freriks will be present at the fi rst evening on 31 October. Part of the program will be screened on 2 and 3 November in Filmhuis Den Haag and 3 November in Pathé cinemas in Breda, Eindhoven, Maastricht, Rotterdam and Utrecht. With a program of seventeen French fi lms, including avant-premières and a number of exclusive Dutch screenings, there is a lot to choose from in the large selection of new French cinema.
Tapis Rouge programs the best French cinema at the moment. In addition to Hors Normes there are several avant-premières, such as Fahim, the fi nal fi lm Le Dindon, the animated fi lm La fameuse invasion des ours and sicile (The famous bear invasion of Sicily) in the children’s program, and Roubaix, une lumière (Oh Mercy !). No less than four fi lms from the program are exclusively screened during Tapis Rouge and can therefore not be viewed elsewhere on the big screen. Furthermore the festival has fi lms that will be released later in the Netherlands and a number of recent French masterpieces that once again can be seen in the cinema.
